HIGH TEA BRIDAL SHOWERS & KITCHEN TEAS
High Tea Bridal Showers and Kitchen Teas, Made Effortless
Whatever you call it, bridal shower or kitchen tea, it’s one of the last celebrations that’s just for her before the wedding takes over. We’ll help you make it beautiful, without you having to do all the work.

A Beautiful Way to Celebrate the Bride-to-Be
Weddings get the big spotlight, the planning, the guest list, the seating charts, the stress. A bridal shower high tea (or kitchen tea, whatever you call it where you’re from) is different. It’s smaller, slower, and entirely about the bride, not the logistics of the big day, just the people who’ve been there for the lead-up to it. No speeches to sit through, no formalities to manage. Just good food, good company, and a few hours that are actually about celebrating her, not organising a wedding.
Bridal Shower or Kitchen Tea? What’s the Difference?
Bridal Shower
The more common term across most of Australia
Kitchen Tea
The more traditional term, often gift-focused
Same celebration, different name depending on where you grew up or which side of the family you’re on. Whichever word you use, we cater both exactly the same way with our beautiful high teas.
Why High Tea Works So Beautifully for This Celebration
A bridal shower doesn’t need a marquee, a dance floor, or a run sheet, it needs a table worth lingering at. High tea gives you exactly that: food that’s meant to be shared slowly, pretty enough to photograph without trying, and structured enough that nobody’s wondering what happens next. It works in a lounge room as easily as it works in a private dining room, which means the celebration can be about the company, not the venue. And because everything’s already beautiful, nobody has to spend the morning styling a table before guests arrive.

Planning It Without the Overwhelm
There’s no rulebook for a high tea bridal shower, which is either freeing or slightly stressful, depending on how you feel about blank pages. A few practical anchors help: guest lists tend to stay smaller and closer than the wedding’s own, close friends, family, the people who’ve actually been part of the lead up, not the full invite list. It’s usually hosted by a bridesmaid, close friend, or family member rather than the couple themselves, which means someone else is carrying the logistics (that’s where we come in). Timing wise, most happen four to eight weeks before the wedding, close enough to feel connected to it, far enough out that it doesn’t compete with final wedding prep for everyone’s attention.
Choosing a Venue
A high tea bridal shower doesn’t need a dedicated venue. Wherever you land, the table is what carries the occasion, not the four walls around it.
A Home
Personal, relaxed, no one watching the clock.
A Function Room
Suits a larger guest list, nothing to tidy up.
A Backyard
Natural light and room to breathe.
Food
Sandwiches, scones, sweets, all the classics done properly, plus a little seasonal variety depending on when you’re celebrating. Our high tea catering is handcrafted, and every cake is gluten free as standard. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary requirements are easily accommodated too. See our full Dietary Requirements page for detail

Vintage Crockery Hire
A pretty table does a lot of the work for you. Our vintage crockery, teacups, cake stands and all, turns even a simple high tea bridal shower spread into something that looks properly celebrated.
Styling & Personal Touches for the Bride
The nicest bridal showers feel like they were planned by someone who actually knows her, not a template. A few flowers in her favourite colour, a small nod to how she and her partner met, a playlist that’s actually her taste rather than generic background music. Maybe she’s more of an outdoors kind of girl and would prefer her high tea bridal shower set up outside. Games are entirely optional; some brides love a bit of gentle teasing over a game of “how well do you know the couple,” others would rather just sit and talk. Either is fine. The details that matter most are usually the small, specific ones, not the big showy gestures.
You Bring the Love. We Bring the Know-How.
If this is the first event you’ve ever planned, that nervous feeling is completely normal. You are not expected to know how many teapots a table of twelve needs, or what happens if someone mentions a dietary requirement two days before. That is our job, not yours. You bring the guest list and the love for the bride. We bring twenty plus years of knowing exactly what a high tea table needs, right down to the last teaspoon. By the time guests arrive, nobody will know this was your first time hosting anything. They will just know it was beautiful.
High Tea Bridal Shower FAQ
Got questions about planning a bridal shower or kitchen tea? We’ve gathered the ones we hear most, so you can book with confidence.
Yes, largely. Both are celebrations for the bride-to-be before her wedding, usually hosted by close friends or family. “Bridal shower” is the more common term across most of Australia, while “kitchen tea” is a more traditional name, often tied to gifting practical items for the couple’s new home. We cater both exactly the same way.
We have a minimum of 18 pax for our Mad Hatter and Queen of Tarts full service packages and 20 pax if you’d prefer to DIY with just hire. If you have under 18 guests check out our small group high tea packages.
Traditionally, it’s organised by a bridesmaid, close friend, or family member rather than the bride or couple themselves. Whoever’s hosting, we handle the catering and styling so you’re not doing it all yourself.
We’d suggest at least 4-6 weeks out where possible, as dates in peak wedding season do book out fast. Get in touch and we’ll let you know what’s available.
