HIGH TEA BIRTHDAY PARTY
A Birthday High Tea Made Just for Them
Not just another birthday lunch. A special high tea celebration for the birthday guest.

Celebrate the Person, Not Just the Age
Another year, another candle count, but the number was never really the point. The best birthdays feel like they were planned by someone who actually knows the person, not pulled from a template because it happens to be their birthday month. Whether it’s a milestone that deserves proper acknowledgement or an ordinary year that just deserves a good afternoon, the celebration should feel like theirs. High tea gives you room to make it personal, without needing a theme, a run sheet, or a party planner to pull it off.
Why High Tea Works for Birthdays
A birthday doesn’t need speeches, games, or a run sheet to feel special, it needs a table people actually want to sit at. High tea gives you exactly that. It works for a milestone the same way it works for an ordinary Tuesday turning into something worth marking. There’s no pressure to fill hours with activities, no awkward lull waiting for “the next thing.” Guests arrive, the food’s already beautiful, and everyone gets to do the thing birthdays are actually for: sitting around good food with the people who came to celebrate.

High Tea For A Milestone Birthday

Birthday High Tea Food Ideas
Expect all the classics done properly: finger sandwiches, scones, a proper spread of sweets, plenty to keep a full afternoon going without anyone eyeing the door for dinner. See our full High Tea Menu for the complete lineup.
Every high tea includes cake as part of the spread, but if you’re after a proper birthday cake, candles, a name, a specific theme, that’s a different job to ours. We’d recommend The Green Bakery for something made specifically for the day.
Dietary requirements are easily worked around too. Every cake on our menu is gluten free as standard, and we can cater for vegetarian, vegan and dairy free guests. Some allergies and more complex combinations are harder to guarantee, so mention anything specific when you enquire. Full detail on our Dietary Requirements page.
Tips For Planning Your Birthday High Tea
Start with what they’d actually enjoy, not what a birthday is “supposed” to look like. From there, the planning is simple.
Guest List
Settle the headcount first.
Date
What works for your guest of honour?
Venue
Consider event size and theme.
Book Early
Wedding season fills fast.
Vintage Crockery Hire
A birthday table doesn’t need a themed set of matching plates to look special. A few well-chosen vintage pieces, teacups, cake stands, ornate cutlery, do more for the occasion than most decorations ever will, and they suit anything from a milestone fortieth to a relaxed afternoon with close friends.

A Surprise
Everything set up before the guest of honour walks in.
You Bring the Candles. We Bring the Rest.
Whether it’s a big milestone or “just” another birthday, the person hosting still has to do the actual hosting, refilling teapots, keeping an eye on the table, making sure everyone’s fed while the birthday person barely gets a moment to sit down. That’s the part we take over. The crockery’s set, the food arrives ready, and you get to actually be at the party you planned instead of running it. Light the candles, make the wish, everything else is handled.
High Tea Birthday Party FAQ
Got questions about planning a birthday high tea? We’ve gathered the ones we hear most, so nothing’s left uncertain before you book.
Absolutely, it’s one of our most popular events for exactly these occasions. It gives a milestone the proper occasion it deserves without needing a big formal dinner or event space to feel significant.
Yes. There’s no rule that says high tea has to be a huge event. Some of our nicest bookings are a small group of close friends marking an ordinary year properly.
Yes, just let us know the plan when you enquire. We’ll have everything delivered and set up before the guest of honour arrives, so the only surprise is the one you intended.
Not at all. High tea suits any birthday, any guest of honour, any guest list. It’s a format built around good food and good company, not a particular audience.
Our high tea menu includes tea cake as part of the spread if you select one of these options, but if you want a specific birthday cake with candles or a theme, that’s a separate order. See our food section above for a cake supplier recommendation.
